The research paper must be an individual effort, not a group effort, and must be on a SMS topic of your choice related to aviation. At least 5 single  spaced pagesof text  in Times New Roman font, left justified, not including the pages used for the cover page, abstract, references and appendices (if there are any). Topics can include scenario based events, safety policy, SRM, SA, safety promotion, safety reporting, safety culture, management of change, hazard identification, hazard classification, safety data analysis, risk assessment, measuring the effectiveness of the SMS, implementation of SMS, challenges to implementing SMS, different needs for SMS complexity, cultural barriers to SMS philosophy and practice, just culture, SMS and the legal system, etc etc (your choice).

The speaking notes are just your notes that you will use for reference during your speech. Whatever you will write down on your note cards is what you submit for your speaking notes. It’s OK if they change before your speech. You do not have to use note cards during your speech, but you DO need to demonstrate mastery of your content. Prepare and practice with these notes so that you are able to speak to your audience; points will be deducted if you are reading large portions of your speech word-for-word.

Part 2

A) Does your interest group face Free rider problem? Explain your reasoning.

(Make sure to define and explain the free rider problem. Avoid google definition of free rider phenomena. Explain why you think your interest group faces or does not face this problem.)

B) Explain astroturfing and provide 2 specific examples.

Republicans who have majority in both chambers of Texas congress wanted to enact changes in voting legislation that would further protect the integrity of the elections.

Texas Democrats, on the other side, vehemently opposed proposed bills   accusing Republicans of attempting to enact further voter restrictions.

We have a debate between two important principles(ideas): the integrity of elections and   making voting more accessible.

I want from you to discuss the following questions:

Vote by mail in post pandemic America; Yes, or no? Why?

Is voting turnout (see chapter 7) important for democracy? Why? Explain your argument? (How Texas is doing regarding voting turnout, check the most recent election turnout data (Some data is available at Texas state secretary website: votetexas.gov).

Examine validity of voter fraud argument in debate on elections policy. (Provide evidence for your position)

 4. Texas Democrats tried to increase access to voting, especially in large urban counties. Texas Republicans on the other side want to install additional voting safety requirements. It is obvious that two major political parties focus on different yet legitimate ideas: increase access for voting and protect the integrity of elections.

Explain what may be real interest behind those two ideas? 

As students of the Texas government, you are expected to provide intelligent opinions supported by knowledge you obtained by reading assigned chapters and researching this topic online at valid websites.
